Wednesday 2 up.

Thank fuck Huddersfield have just equalised.

Though current table still looks ropey AF.

Had nothing to do. Did the basics well. Pleased to see him get a clean sheet. Another one next weekend, please.

Brittain 8
Early on, I felt he was a little frustrating by not beating his man with an easy cross, and getting caught out of position on the counter-attack. He quickly grew into the game well and provided a threat down their flank. One of his better games.

Carter 7
Not bad. Think it's his second game back, but perhaps better at the Tomasson style of football (getting forward and attacking) than defending. Played well when Coventry went down to ten men and he was able to venture forward to provide support.

McFadzean 9
Man of the Match. We've missed him at the back instead of the unfortunate, yet slightly hapless, Wharton. An absolute leader and a rock that we must keep in the starting XI against Leicester City.

Hyam 7
OK. Can't really recall much that he had to do, and so didn't put a foot wrong.

Pickering 7
Solid enough, defensively, but offensively is a bit out of sorts on the wing, despite putting a good cross or two in. He's been here for a few years, and he's an average Championship left-back.

Tronstad 8
Much-improved since the last game. Fought hard and worked hard, and invariably won the ball when it was in contention. Did the simple passing correctly. We get points when he plays well.

Rankin-Costello 6
I felt he didn't really get into the game. A couple of passes went awry, although he does add a little bit of bite in midfield that, say, Buckley doesn't.

Dolan 7
Unlucky not to score when hitting the post in the second-half. He typically got the ball stuck under his feet too many times, including when he hit the post when we had men forward to play through to. Needs better composure in the forward areas, but gave his all as always.

Szmodics 6
One of his poorer games, but I think he must be exhausted. Missed a sitter in the first-half. Took a few shots on for his golden boot campaign when I felt he should have squared it or passed it for a better opportunity. Still gave 100% as he does every game.

Gallagher 7
Has Jekyll and Hyde moments, as usual, but felt this was one of his better games of late. Sometimes I think his mind is elsewhere and away from the club. But other times, he generally won his headers, played a nice ball or two through, and wasn't afraid to shoot when he had the opportunity. Went close with a header in the second-half, but it wasn't to be. Generally, a little bit of quality was lacking.

As for the subs...

Ayari 8
Made a big difference after Coventry went down to ten men and took the game by the scruff of the neck for us. Went close twice with shot just a yard or two on the wrong side of the posts. I would like to see him start against Leicester City, possibly in place of Rankin-Costello.

Chrisene 6
Thought he was solid, but unspectacular. For a young left-back, I'd be looking for more guile and confidence when going forward, which was lacking.

Moran 6
Didn't really notice him but should have put the headed corner away. The closest he's come to a goal for a while, which is a travesty given why we bring his type into the club at expense.

Overall, we should have won this. 30 shots with 8 on target, versus Coventry's 6 shots with one on target. Coventry's season is over, but they'll be happier with the result based on proceedings than we will. We were looking to put the season to bed with a win, but we couldn't do it.

On a positive side, I felt this was a game we could have easily lost. Maybe a point isn't much good to us, but I think the performance was decent, and hopefully we can go to Leicester City with a bit of confidence and hope they're already on the flood beach in Dubai.

Dolan fucked it up before he hit the post
There was a simple ball to his right to Gally in acres of space

Gally is so shit it seems nobody trusts him.

I noticed a couple of games back where Smoddie was taking shots from difficult angles rather than cross to our dolloping striker in the box.

That must have been very stressful watching that today. It was bad enough listening to the score updates at home.
The stress isn’t really over yet as I’d overlooked Brum’s GD being the same as ours.
Bizarrely I think we’ll get something at Leicester as they could well be Champions by then.
Ive not heard about the Awards for the Season but I’m assuming Sammie did well!

Leicester as they could well be Champions by then.
I think that too. Though have possibly overlooked the fact that they can still get to 100 points which you can bet their manager will still use as motivation (presuming they win in midweek) whether Champions by then or not.

It has to be said, overall that was a shite performance today against a team that had played 2 times in the previous 2 days including an energy sapping ET and penalty loss, had nothing to play for AND were then down to 10 men.

Kind of sums up where we are as a team on the shitesters.

A decent gate of 20,026.

We should have won. SS yet again below par. Our subs were too late and we suffer from not having a CF.

We need to move Gallagher on asap and try and get some money for the dolloper.

Very generous marks there gooz imo. I wouldn't have awarded any player a higher mark than a 7! It was understandably a nervy and disjointed performance in a match that we didn't win, especially in the first half.
These would have been mine
Pears 7
Carter 6
Fadz 6
Hyam 6
Pick 5
Brittain 6
Tronstad 7
JRC 7
Dolan7
Szmodics 5
Gallagher 4
Asari 7
Moran 5
Chrisene 5

Moving on. From the BBC match report.
88'
Attempt missed. Yasin Ayari (Blackburn Rovers) right footed shot from outside the box is close, but misses to the left. Assisted by Callum Brittain following a corner.
88'
Attempt blocked. Callum Brittain (Blackburn Rovers) right footed shot from outside the box is blocked. Assisted by Yasin Ayari.

At precisely the same time Adam Wharton the MoM of the Fulham v palace match set up the equalising goal for Fulham.
😩
Meanwhile palace fans aware of their own vulnerability in the transfer market are singing his praise and speculating on his future value when he will inevitably leave.
Life is cruel at times isn't it?

Szmodics appeared to me to be playing for himself in his determination to finish as top championship goal scorer. He was blazing away from silly angles when he should really have been seeking colleagues in better positions.

Asari was really good. I thought he was bright light to a dull game.

Eustace needs punting asap. He’s horrific

I have liked it because it is nearer my thinking
But Dolan 7!!
I asked the question yesterday - where is he supposed to be - what is he su[pposed to be doing "for the team" all he seems to do is cause confusion - maybe (almost certainly) not his fault - I assume he is being told to wander (free role). But he isnt good enough or more importantly clever enough to do it
JRC on the other hand is - he had a bit of a stinker - but only because he was trying to spring traps "all the time" - players like that are always going to have a low rpercentage success rate - but there few great balls that come off will win you games
Dolan!
Even his post hitting shot was because he had beaten himself and the ball fell nicely for an attempt
